As we continue to expand, we're looking for a driven and analytical Gear Buyer to join our team.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and strategic Gear Buyer to join our dynamic team and contribute to our success. As a Buyer at The Feed, you will play a crucial role in shaping our product strategy and assortment across gear and select apparel categories. You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing products, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring the availability and competitiveness of our product range.
This role includes a component of traditional apparel buying. Certain gear categories, particularly apparel, require seasonal assortment planning, including the introduction of new styles and colors each season while managing the lifecycle and exit of prior season products. Your expertise in market trends, consumer preferences, and product performance will guide our buying decisions and strengthen our position within the endurance community.
NOTE: This is an in-office position, located in Broomfield, CO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers to source products that align with our brand vision and customer needs.
- Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Assortment Planning: Develop and manage the product assortment strategy, including selecting products, determining pricing, and coordinating promotions to maximize sales and profitability.
- Seasonal Apparal Buying: Manage seasonal apparel assortments, including selecting new styles and colorways each season, forecasting demand, and planning the lifecycle of seasonal products while ensuring prior season inventory is appropriately managed and exited.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to make data-driven buying decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and sales performance to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as marketing, sales, and operations, to align product strategies with overall business goals.
- Performance Tracking: Analyze sales data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of buying strategies and make necessary adjustments.
- Budget Management: Oversee the buying budget and financial performance of product categories to achieve targets and objectives.
- Startup Mindset: Thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing startup environment, and adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities.
- 4+ years of experience in buying or purchasing for a D2C retail company, preferably within a startup or entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience buying gear, hardgoods, or apparel, with familiarity managing seasonal apparel assortments preferred.
- Strong understanding of market trends, consumer preferences, and industry competition.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in data analysis and inventory management tools.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and results-driven mindset.

- Salary target $80,000 - $120,000 annually depending on experience, and performance-based bonuses.
