The Feed provides athletes with the widest selection of active nutrition and healthy snacks on the market today. We use science, our experience, and advice from athletes to give our customers personalized recommendations for better nutrition. Our e-commerce platform allows customers to learn about nutrition and then build a custom box for one-time or subscription purchase.
We are searching for an exceptional professional to join our growing finance and accounting team, helping us to build a world-class finance function as we scale. The position is based in our Broomfield, Colorado office.
Primary Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain the general ledger
- Perform monthly account reconciliations
- Prepare monthly accruals to assist Controller to close financials on best practice cost accounting standards
- Assist in third-party financial review
- Collaborate with annual corporate tax returns
- Validate and process payroll and benefits transactions
- Manage all areas of state sales tax
- Lead all accounting transactions including daily, weekly and monthly journal entries, accounts payable and bank receipts.
- Prepare routine accounting reports, spreadsheets, and financial statements, research and compile data and variances, and assists with creating quarterly and annual reports
- Perform routine audits of financial records and transactions, reviews and matches records and statements to ensure accuracy within financial systems, identify and researches discrepancies, and resolve or makes recommendations for corrective actions
- Ensures compliance and maintains fiscal accountability with regard to rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting with 4 years of progressive professional accounting experience is required, ideally in a growth-stage startup
- Must have cost accounting experience
- Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and able to work independently as well as with others
- Proficient in a wide range of accounting and financial topics including revenue recognition, purchase accounting, and stock-option compensation expense
- Possess strong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, and data analysis skills.
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be adept at creative problem solving
- Have worked in a company with high volume transactions within B2C organizations
- Proficient in a wide range of accounting and financial topics including revenue recognition, purchase accounting, and stock-option compensation expense
- You have experience of driving process improvement and introducing new accounting tools and software
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in and possess working knowledge of Quickbooks, Shopify, cloud-based Accounts Payable systems, payroll processing platforms and Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
Compensation:
- $75,000 - $90,000. Wage differential is based on experience, training and education.
